Chitwan Valley Family Study Webinar: The CVFS Young Adult Study

The CVFS Young Adult Study: Methods and Findings from a 30 Month, Frequent Interview, Study of Private Topics

When:
Wednesday, October 16, 2024
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (EDT)

Presenter: William Axinn

This webinar uses the new CVFS young adult study (YAS) to document the benefits of a mixed mode design for longitudinal studies. The CVFS-YAS uses a web-phone mixed mode design to conduct six rounds of interviews across two and half years to create a record of changes in young adult sex, contraceptive use, and substance use behaviors during early adulthood. The design allows young adults to participate no matter where they move and to switch modes to whatever is more convenient at each round. Analyses demonstrate that allowing responses by multiple modes changes both key outcome measures and substantive interpretations from multivariable models of those outcomes. Discussion will focus on potential uses of the CVFS-YAS data. All of these new measures can be linked to previous measures of these same young people, their parents and siblings, and their households and neighborhoods. There will be a Q&A session after the presentation.
