Republican Consumers Absolutely Giddy About an Economy and Inflation That They Derided Just a Few Months Ago. Democrats See It Differently.

Post-election consumer sentiment shows wildly different opinions about the economy. The consumer sentiment index rose for the 5th month in a row, and a sharp increase in the current economic conditions index came as a result of people feeling that this was now a better time to make purchases of items expected to last a while, such as furniture and appliances. Joanne Hsu said,

“Democrats voiced concerns that anticipated policy changes, particularly tariff hikes, would lead to a resurgence in inflation. Republicans disagreed; they expect the next president will usher in an immense slowdown in inflation.”
