This research study and contract is funded through VA-Health Services Research and Development. The purpose of the research is to conduct the first nationally-representative sample of Veteran and non-Veteran students. Veteran students are a growing population (over 550,000 Veterans used educational benefits in FY 2011) facing unique challenges. Meeting educational goals is of critical importance to their long-term vocational and life success. However, current outreach efforts and interventions are being developed without high quality data on Veteran students. We believe that the results of the work in this contract, and the research funding overall, will improve the national generalizability of the findings, which may provide greater insight into the needs, preferences, and use of resources to our nationals’s Veterans.
