This project will examine the effect of a recent increase in benefit levels in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on household spending. The increase in SNAP benefit levels was an important provision of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), often referred to as the stimulus package, and this research will estimate its effect on the food and nonfood expenditures of participating households.
