Studied informative and directive functions of mood in subjective evaluations of well-being among depressive and nondepressive individuals. Human subjects: 20 female German adults (inpatients with depressive disorders). 21 normal female German adults. Using the weather to manipulate mood, half of the depressive and nondepressive Ss rated their current mood, life satisfaction, and expectation of future happiness on a rainy day, while the other half completed the rating scale on a sunny day. The interactions between weather and Ss' ratings of subjective well-being were analyzed, and results from depressive and nondepressive Ss were compared.
