A Local High Schooler Has Become a Voice for Mental Health
Perriel Pace is an 11th grader at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, she has been an advocate for mental health awareness as a representative on the Detroit Public Schools Community District school board. One thing Pace sees as lacking is the amount of social-emotional learning taught in schools. Robin Tepper Jacob discussed the importance of social-emotional learning in schools, “Social-emotional learning involves teaching students about self-awareness, self-management, social skills, and responsible decision-making.”
