HRS data used in study finding reading books is associated with longevity

The study by Avni Bavishi, Martin D. Slade, and Becca R. Levy was made up of 3635 participants in the Health and Retirement Study who provided information about their reading habits. After adjusting for co-variates, the study finds a 20% reduction in risk of mortality over the 12 year period.

The A chapter a day: Association of book reading with longevity was published in the September 2016 issue of Social Science & Medicine.
