Responsive Survey Design (RSD) Research Education Program announces its 2019 short course schedule
The Responsive Survey Design (RSD) Research Education Program, part of the University of Michigan Summer Institute in Survey Research Techniques, is excited to announce its 2019 short course schedule!
New this year, the program has restructured the short courses and defined five tracks that will likely appeal to different groups of researchers and data collection managers interested in learning more about responsive and adaptive survey design. Interested participants can register for one or more tracks, or simply register for one or more of the short courses that define a given track.
- Are you new to responsive and adaptive survey design, and looking to learn more about basic concepts and how this technique is applied in the field? Then consider taking our Introductory Track, defined by these two one-day short courses that will take place on June 17 and June 18, 2019:
- Basic RSD Concepts, with James Wagner, Andy Peytchev, and Frauke Kreuter
- RSD Case Studies, with Brady West, Barry Schouten, Joe Murphy, and Bill Axinn
- Are you a survey manager or director, interested in learning more about how to use RSD principles to increase the efficiency of your data collections? Then consider taking our Management Track, defined by these three one-day short courses that will take place on June 19, 20, and 21, 2019:
- RSD Management, with Heidi Guyer, Joe Murphy, and Shonda Kruger-Ndiaye
- Data Visualization for Survey Management, with Brad Edwards and Victoria Vignare
- Implementing, Managing, and Analyzing Interventions in an RSD Framework, with Brady West
- Are you a survey statistician, interested in learning more about how data quality indicators that inform RSD, implementing interventions in an RSD framework, and how these designs are used in the Federal statistical system? Then consider taking our Statistical Track, defined by these three one-day short courses that will take place on June 19, 20, and 21, 2019:
- Alternative Indicators for Maximizing Data Quality, with Natalie Shlomo and Barry Schouten
- Implementation of RSD in the Federal Statistical System, with Ben Reist and Stephanie Coffey
- Implementing, Managing, and Analyzing Interventions in an RSD Framework, with Brady West
- Are you a population health scientist, demographer, or epidemiologist, interested in learning how RSD can improve the efficiency of your data collections, including those with smaller scale? Then consider taking our Population Science Track, defined by these three one-day short courses that will take place on June 17, 18, and 19, 2019:
- Survey Methodology for Health Science Researchers, and the Links Between Adaptive Design and Adaptive Health Interventions, with Brady West and James Wagner
- Basic RSD Concepts, with Brady West, Andy Peytchev, and Frauke Kreuter
- Responsive Survey Design for Web Surveys, with Scott Crawford, Julie Smith and Stephanie Coffey
- Do you conduct randomized clinical trials, or test behavioral or preventative interventions? Then consider taking our Clinical Trials Track, defined by these three one-day short courses that will take place on June 17, 18, and 19, 2019:
- Survey Methodology for Health Science Researchers, and the Links Between Adaptive Design and Adaptive Health Interventions, with Brady West
- Basic RSD Concepts, with Brady West, Andy Peytchev, and Frauke Kreuter
- Getting SMART: The Construction of Optimal Adaptive Interventions, with Danny Almirall
Do I have to register for a track, or can I just take one short course? Interested participants are welcome to take any combination of courses that they might be interested in; these tracks are suggested sequences of courses for the specific subgroups indicated above.
Where will these short courses take place? These short courses are scheduled to take place this upcoming summer (2019) at the 73rd Annual Summer Institute at the University of Michigan. Please visit the RSD Program web site or the Summer Institute's web site for more information.
Do I have to attend in person in Ann Arbor? No worries, we have you covered! All short courses can be taken remotely with our state-of-the-art video conferencing system and interactive RSD program website. New this year, we will include enhanced participation options for remote attendees!
