The goal of this project is to examine the effects of dynamic participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on child and adolescent overweight. The problem of obesity and overweight in America has reached epidemic proportions, with almost one-fifth of U.S. children and adolescents classified as overweight in 2003-2004. We will use panel data from the nationally-representative Child Development Supplement (CDS) to the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID). The population of interest is children in families eligible to receive SNAP benefits.
