As part of the New York City Department of Educations Next Generation Community Schools initiative, the University of Michigan Youth Policy Lab (YPL) will partner with Bank Street College of Education to scale a sustainable model of the High 5s program to a set of New York City community schools. YPL will provide curriculum and professional development materials and implementation support for the project. Over the course of a three-year planning and implementation, YPL and Bank Street will support the training of CBO and school staff to ensure a successful and sustainable implementation. High 5s is a game-based small group supplemental math program developed at the University of Michigan with input from MDRC and the developers of Building Blocks (Clements & Sarama, 2014). It is designed to build on childrens natural developmental progression in math skills (i.e., learning trajectories) and support students at many levels through hands-on interactive experiences.
