Helen LevyVincent Fusaro, Helen Levy, and H. Luke Shaefer’s study, Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Lifetime Prevalence of Homelessness in the United States, is featured in a Washington Post article emphasizing the number of baby boomers overall – and African American boomers specifically – who have been homeless at some point in their lives. This new study uses the Health and Retirement Study to collect data on whether someone has ever been homeless, as opposed to the annual Department of Housing and Urban Development study which captures a snapshot of the number of homeless people at the point in time that the survey is conducted.
