Wages are rising. Jobs are plentiful. Nobody’s happy.
In an article for Vox, Joanne Hsu discussed the paradox in U.S. economy: unemployment is low, wages are rising, but Americans consistently say the economy is terrible. In part, this is because employers have been complaining to the media about the shortage of available workers. Joanne Hsu says, “There is a recognition that a strong labor market is great for workers but not necessarily good for businesses. People tell us that they’ve been hearing bad news about labor markets with respect to business conditions.”
