Neighborhood Adversity and Mental Health: Neurophysiological Mechanisms and Social Processes Promoting Resilience During the Transition to Adulthood
Project Summary
This public health-focused research will examine how indicators of neighborhood adversity are linked to mental health, and how stress-related neurophysiological mechanisms and social buffers account for and influence this link. Identifying these mechanisms and buffers will inform advances in targeting, not only intermediate social and neurophysiological pathways, but also underlying contributors to poor mental health that stem from exposure to adversity.
