SRO collaborates with researchers to develop project designs, work scope, budgets, and proposal content for data collection projects.
At the onset of every project, the researcher will work with an experienced Survey Director or a member of the Proposal Development Group to define a work scope and create a budget estimate for the project. As needed, SRO will provide more comprehensive design services, including proposal preparation and support, and consultation in all aspects of survey implementation, identifying innovative methods and techniques designed to improve data quality and reduce survey costs.
SRO can typically provide non-binding ballpark cost estimates for data collection services within two weeks. Complex project designs may require more time. Formal proposal packages including a detailed work scope memo, line item budget, and budget justification can typically be provided within three to four weeks. Researchers external to the University of Michigan should allow an additional 10 business days for the proposal package to be routed for SRC, ISR, and U-M level approvals. A formal proposal is required for investigators interested in naming SRC as a data collection partner in proposals.
Please use the Survey Inquiry Form if you would like a member of the SRO Proposal Development to contact you.
